The fabric

We have worked to create a Cream on Cream crewel fabric which is versatile for different schemes. It is not too brown, not too yellow, not too bright and not too antique. Our cream on cream fabric is a warm and gentle tone which will enhance whichever colours it is paired with. The texture of the embroidery means it also adds beautiful layers to a neutral scheme.

We would use this fabric for curtains, a Roman blind, cushions or upholstery (although perhaps for upholstery it might be best suited to a dog-free, child-free room!). It is a mid size pattern which works well with smaller patterns and plains.

The tree of life design on this cream on cream fabric is beautifully rendered by our experienced embroiderers in Kashmir, who work together in their village homes, sewing, quickly and accurately, using a special needle called an aari.

Cream on Cream is a timeless, classic fabric; used in country homes and architectural new builds. Perhaps the most obvious way to use it is with other neutrals, to create a calm, serence and elegant space. However, a rich colour palette can also create a sophisticated scheme when paired with a calming neutral like our cream on cream fabric. The brown undertone to cream can mean it works well with an earthy palette, even bold colours like a deep burgundy red. For a contemporary colour scheme try working with a muddy green – it’s another earthy colour which works with plenty of other shades if you want to introduce a third colour in your room.

Suitability
This Cream on Cream fabric has a cotton background and wool surface embroidery. The natural fibres will adapt to the conditions of your home. Cream on Cream is suitable for all soft furnishings, a classic use of the fabric is for a sumptuous king size bedspread.
If you are looking for a similar neutral-based colour palette, you could also try Sanjana, a brighter cream background with bold floral motifs in a neutral palette of beige with a very subtle hint of green and brown.
