Can I join the back to school gang please? My children are finally off and I’ve seen lots of posts talking about the bittersweet feelings at the end of the summer holidays, so I’m going to focus on the good stuff:

1. I’m going to tidy my house and it will stay tidy for at least half an hour.
2. I’m going to sit down with a cup of tea and make an enormous satisfying list of things that I need to do. For me.
3. I will go to appointments without having to stand by the door shouting “just out your shoes on!” Multiple times.

So it’s all me, me, me this morning. And I think that’s fair!

We’ve just got back from a family fortnight in C

We’ve just got back from a family fortnight in Cornwall and I’m still feeling the calm that comes with not having anything to do except potter and play.

But I know that next week it’s back to school, early mornings and routine.

So I’m planning a few little projects in the house to give me something to look forward to and hopefully by the end of September I will have completed them, which will give me a much needed glow of satisfaction to send me into Autumn on a high.

Here are some ideas:
📸 select a favourite photo from the summer, get it printed on high quality paper and pop it in a frame for an occasional table

🛋️ make a cushion - there must be a room in the house that could use another cushion! Order samples now for your perfect addition.

🌷search the garden catalogues for next Spring’s bulb display

🤳 share your ideas with me for small, achievable, end of summer projects in the comments below.

A simple panel of fabric which you roll up - no cord required.

🧶Here we used our Chenab crewel, which is hand embroidered with a tonal palette of gorgeous greens.

🦓 We added a ticking stripe from @ian_mankin to add detail to the reverse.

🎀 And tied it up with ribbon from @vvrouleaux
