The fabric
Rajouri is an animal fabric with naive deer leaping through a meadow of blue and pink flowers, with birds flying overhead.
The background is a sturdy cream cotton, and the embroidery wools are floral motifs in green, blue and pink, with browns shaded deer.
It is a joyful Spring-like fabric, perfect for brightening a bedroom, bathroom or nursery and bringing pretty garden colours into your home the whole year round.
The History
Animals have always populated India’s art and our animal fabric is a perfect example. From religion to folklore, animals bring special meaning and are often imbued with spirituality. Both deer and birds have often represented love in Indian poetry, and the deer can also be a symbol of regeneration, as it loses and regrows its antlers.
‘Rajouri’ means the Land of Kings. The town was a favourite haunt of the Mughal rulers on their way to Kashmir, and at the height of its glory, it was a great trade centre.

Our animal fabric is perfectly suited to bedrooms, bathroom and nurseries. Use for bespoke curtains, blinds, bedspreads, single bedheads, bedhangings, upholstery and cushions.
